in 100 years virginia has executed a woman. teresa lewis died from lethal injection at 9:13. there were no complications. ms. lewis did make a last statement. she said i just want cathy to know i love her and i'm very sorry. >>> metro is getting high marks. metro is much safer than it was a year ago. >> reporter: good news for a change. it was just a few months ago that the national transportation satisfactory board blasted metro for the anemic safety culture th say existed at the time of that deadly crash. now, the ntsb is recognizing them for strides they have made over the last year to improve safety. the chairman of the ntsb said metro is safer now than it was back in 2009. metro has made significant safety improvements in the year following a collision that left nine dead. that the word from the national transportation safety board. >> they have done a lot of learning in the last year plus, and i think that always every organization is going to go through a difficult time after an accident. the question is how you react to that accident and what changes you make. and i believe that

. slow traffic as you work your way south of montrose road to the split. in virginia, northbound i-95 slowing out of dale city trying to head north of the prince william parkway. no accidents, just volume. 66 slows at business 234. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. >>> a speeding suv collides with an ambulance overnight. stacy cohan joins us live with the details. >> reporter: it was a very scary moment for the folk in the ambulance apparently. this happened just around midnight. they were just dispatched heading westbound on marlboro pike. and apparently, investigators were able to watch it all unfold on a dash cam that took video from the ambulance. the suburban was heading the wrong with a just speeding down when it was approaching the ambulance head on. the driver of the ambulance managed to swerve to the left and the suv, the suburban lipped the side of the ambulance, literally shaving half of that ambulance off and then it went another 40 yards, crashed into a brick wall, crashed into a utility pole and flipped up on its roof. all three members in that suv, three men
